About full-screen mode video screen resolutions
When running a virtual machine in full-screen mode, there are three screen resolution options.
Option | Description | Notes |
---|---|---|
Adjust PC to match Mac | The monitor resolution of the virtual machine is set to match the resolution for Mac OS X. This is the default setting. |
Under all circumstances, the virtual machine window will fill
the entire screen.
Virtual Machine Additions must be installed for this to work properly. Some IBM-compatible programs may not function correctly at resolutions unique to Mac OS X. |
Adjust Mac to match PC | The screen resolution for Mac OS X is set to match that of the virtual machine. |
Under most circumstances, the virtual machine window will
fill the entire screen.
The screen resolution and color depth for Mac OS X change depending on the screen resolution settings for the virtual machine. |
Don't adjust | The screen resolution settings for Mac OS X and the virtual machine are independent of one another. |
Under many circumstances, the virtual machine window will not fill
the entire screen.
When the screen resolution of the virtual machine exceeds that of Mac OS X, Virtual PC displays scroll bars in the virtual machine window. When the screen resolution for the virtual machine is lower than that for Mac OS X, black borders appear around the perimeter of the virtual machine window. When you select Don't adjust, you can increase performance by adjusting the screen resolution for Mac OS X so that it most closely matches that of the virtual machine. |
Note When the Virtual Machine Additions are installed on a virtual machine, Virtual PC supports display settings that are not native to S3 Trio PC hardware. These non-standard settings, which include the 1920x1200, 1680x1050, 1600x1024, and 800x512 settings used by Cinema Display monitors, are now available in Windows.
