Allocate memory for a virtual machine

  1. In Virtual PC, do one of the following:
    • If you have only one virtual machine, on the PC menu, click PC Settings.
    • If you have more than one virtual machine, on the Window menu, click Virtual PC List. Click the virtual machine you want, and then click Settings.

      Note   You cannot change the memory allocation if your virtual machine is in a saved state. Start up your virtual machine or shut it down to change the allocation.

  2. Click PC Memory.
  3. Under PC Memory Settings, drag the slider to set the amount of RAM or VRAM.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • If your virtual machine is not running, click OK.
      When your virtual machine starts, the new setting will be in effect.
    • If your virtual machine is running, click Restart.
      You must restart the virtual machine for the changes to take effect.
