About Virtual PC

Microsoft Virtual PC is a software program in which you can create one or more virtual machines, each running its own operating system, on a single Macintosh computer. The virtual machine emulates a standard x86-based computer, including all of the basic hardware components. By using emulated hardware, each virtual machine works like a separate physical computer. Because each virtual machine has its own operating system, you can run several different operating systems at the same time on a single Macintosh computer.

The following illustration shows the components of the Virtual PC application.
